Thread: pressure inside gearbox

  1. Default pressure inside gearbox

Hi Guys, i was doing a gearbox oil change on my 07 MPS 3. As i removed the filler plug there was a release of pressure from inside the gearbox.

Is this normal, i haven't owned it for long.

That's a good question, haven't done my own gearbox oil change so can't say myself. If the box was warmed up when you let the oil go, then I imagine it may be normal. Hopefully a more hands-on experienced member can help clarify.

OK i think i have come to a conclusion after some research. The breather on top of the gbox maybe blocked.

Will be replacing the breather also the pivot shaft seal and bearing while i'm at it.

Part numbers if anyone is interested:
    Bearing : A60217204
    Breather : A60117530
    Seal : A60117131

Definitely shouldn't happen. The pop off valve at the top of your gearbox is blocked for sure.
