Cool Should my girlfriend buy an RX-8?

Mrs ATH is now back from her 7 month trip from overseas and is about to start work again. Seeing as I have a broken ankle she has been driving the MPS around for the past month. But in a few weeks she'll need a new car. Her previous car was an 2007 Sp23.

She's always loved the RX-8 and has wanted one in 'Winning Blue' since they came out.

The model that is within our price range is the 2003-4 1st series. My question is...

Is there anything I need to be aware of for the series 1 model? And do you think she should get one?

Personally, I think they are a beautifully designed car.

I say do it, RX8 = pure fun!

I've heard of some with excessive oil use, my cousin has a Series 1 and from memory he only uses about 1/4 to 1/2 a litre every third or fourth tankful, and he drives it hard most of the time.

I almost bought an RX8 but the boot space convinced me otherwise

The series 1 had BIG issues with carbon build up and excess oil use (and with a rotary more than usual is MASSIVE) I have heard of a few warranty claims which were brand new motors.

I tried to convince her, but she can't get over the smiley face. She does love that blue colour.

Update: Spoke to the seller and it's actually a series 2 model. And has an upgraded exhaust already.

Would it be bad if I drove it more than my MPS? - haha!
