PLEASE HELP I have a 2005 mazda 6 mps with timing chain issues and nobody wants to touch it.
so my question is does a 2010 mps engine fit directly into my 2005 ?? if not will it need heavy modification
to make it fit

Yes, it's exactly the same engine. Just has some internal improvements

I'm not entirely sure, the mount points are the same, the hpfuelpump is on the head in the mps 2.3 i think which isn't on the 2.5.
above was from a seller of an engine I need he said that im not sure what a "hpfuelpump" is
sorry I am very new to this engine replacing stuff I just want to make sure before I commit
im looking at the same problem, so far it seems like it will cost more to swap out the motor,
the 2004 mazda 6 mps motor will cost me about $4500 and $1000 to swap it in and out
im doing some research to see if its possible to replace the timing chain, im reading it may be a non interference motor (free spinning) so the valves may be fine, if anyone can correct me please do so lol
All MPS engines are the same designation, mzr-disi. They're all the same 2.3l block and head. Some internal differences but otherwise the same. There were improvements made with vvt and I believe pistons but nothing that would affect a swap

4500 is for a full engine inter cooler and turbo setup
I rang around and i can get the block with all the pullys and internalinternals for $950. But its an 010 model and not sure if its a plug and play situation. As the person selling it said there was a difference being the hpfuel pump
Thanks alot mate seems like a good opertunity as the engine being sold has only 13000 ks on it

looking at the 2.3L DISI Turbo (L3-VDT) in the 2004 mazda 6 MPS
the 2010 MPS uses a different motor i think, says its an Updated form of the L3-VE which is the standard Mazda 6 motor, though im not even sure how different the standard 04 mazda motor is to the MPS version

oh wait my bad thats the standard mazda 6 lol
I will touch it
If there was anyone I'd want to touch mine, MPS2NV would be the first choice 😆

ok so my model is
2005 mazda 6 2.3l mzr disi
is not the same engine as a 2010 mazda 6 engine
I don't think 2010 even has an mps verison

I need to repair my motor, timing chain, valves would you do my motor? Lol

Lets clear up a few things here folks.
1. All MPS motors are basically the same. Yes, there are some minor internal differences, the upgraded vvt actuator being one of the most important changes. One of the only external differences is the valve cover breather outlet on Gen 2 motors.
2. Changing over an engine from one series to another is basically a straight swap. Gen 2 valve cover breather outlet being the main difference.
3. If you have a rattling timing chain, then you can most definitely have that fixed, and at a fraction the cost of swapping in a new motor (See MPS2NV on that score, he has done heaps of them). If there is other damage, then it becomes a look and see proposition.
4. Pairing ECU??? Unless your PCM module unexpectedly melts down or spontaneously combusts (Never seen that happen, but if you get footage would love to see it) Pairing is not required.
5. If stockholm seems to be spamming....Well I will break out the norty hammer.
6. Errr...No that is about it...Now bugger off and let me watch porn in peace.
MPS is gone. Ghey Trail enabled....Not Happy. MPS 6 to come
Just an info on MPS6 (2005-2007) timing chain;
The reason why they fail is because of the VVT cog. Apparently the button on this cog fails causing the chain to stretch. Some called this issue the "rattle of death". So you can replace the chain to a new one but if you are using the same cog, it may happen again.
I change mine, not that hard to do. I got my VVT cog button threaded and double pinned so it will not fail. Spring rate was also changed.
Hope this helps.
The VVT actuator was modified in the Gen 2 MPS 3 motor. Since then it has proven to be a lot more robust.
The need for serious modification to the actuator has pretty much died off since then, and most aftermarket "improved" actuators have been found to be less than wonderful.
