Thread: ECU tune after exhaust mod required???

  1. Default ECU tune after exhaust mod required???

    Hi all,

There is a 6mps for sale at the moment which has mazdaspeed Cai, Cobb dump pipe (EDIT, it's a straight pipe, not dump pipe , not sure if it makes a difference) and street unit turbo inlet pipe installed. The current owner seems to reckon it still has its factory tune only...could this be correct or would it need some level of tune to prevent engine lights coming on?

Would having the the factory tune have done any damage with these bolt ons? Been that way for 100 000km

Sorry, basic questions but I'm a bit of a newby the the world of 6mps !

    Thanks in in advance guys!

I'd be very wary of that car... If it has an upgraded hpfp it'll likely be OK, but if not, run away, fast...

At the very least I'd be getting a compression test done on the engine to make sure it's OK

Did cobb do a dp for the 6?
I second sarcasticone, no hpfp would be a no go with those mods, in particular the dp

EDIT guys, been informed it ain't a dump pipe, but a straight pipe which is not as serious a mod, does that make it better?

Nope... If it's removed any catalytic converters, it's probably best to be wary of it...

    That's a downpipe/dump pipe then.
