No don't, will try and get some done this w/end.
Cheers mate
The difference between the DBA 4000 series and the standard ones is that the 4000 series have been heat treated.
Don't know what the theory behind it is, but they handle the heat quite well!
BTW, good luck trying to ship the ROTOR's from street unit. they weight a ton!
I went down that path and was shocked on costs!
Well..
Had a call from mazda today (car in for service).
Seems that I need new pads and they wanted to machine the rotors.
For $590 ill go brand new DBAs and pads thanks...
mate for 590 you can go buy DBA slotted rotors @ 389.00
Hawk/EBC pads @ 170.00
Thats the plan!
I am thinking of giving these a go

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?

I'll give these a go too when my pads are out.
DBA Standard or Series 4000 slots with QFM pads are a fairly solid combination.

I've just ordered the DBA 4000 6x6 wiper-slot rotors for the front with HAWK HPS pads from MPS Garage.
Will report on the combination's merit following a track day in mid August.
Dicky, its mid-August, how did the new brakes go?
Someone earlier asked the replacement cost of Mazda rotors, the answer to that is:
Front $155, Rear: $140.
I opted for DBA rotors and Hawk pads from MPS Garage (yesterday). A bit early to gauge feedback yet...
I didnt even know this thread existed until after I purchased my new rotors. Wish I had read it before purchasing.
Anyways, I ended up getting DBA 4000XS (cross-drilled and slotted) for both front and rear. Paid $850 which was a decent price. The original pads were kept because they had plenty of wear left in them.
The car has done 2000km since replacing the rotors, and while there is good feel and consistency in the brake pedal, the intial bite when you first hit the brake pedal is less compared to the standard rotors. I had hoped this intial bite would return when the pads bedded in to the new rotors, and while it has improved since installation, that initial bite is nowehre near as good as with the old rotors.
Another thing is more pressure has to be applied to the brake pedal when braking compared to the standard rotors. I put this down to the reduced surface area as a result of the slots and cross drilling. Maybe the standard pads don't grip the DBA rotors as well as the OEM rotors. A guy at DBA told me the hardening coat on the DBA 4000 Series rotors did not suit some OEM pads.
Another thing is the increased noise when braking. It's quite obvious with the windows down, and can even hear it with the windows up sometimes.
I have just purchased some QFM pads and plan to install this weekend. Will report back on the findings. Hopefully that intial sensitivity will return.
In hindsight I probably should have purchased the slotted rotors only. But I do like the look of the cross drilled, even though they're w*anky
I post up some pics in the next couple of days
I placed an order with GSL so waiting for some new pads
I was undecided about new rotors as well, and was thinking about DBA slotted but although i have done over 66000klm my standard rotors look pretty much new. So i suppose i may just wait.
I also purchased some new AIRM pads from GSL, although the other day i pulled my rears off to paint the calipers and saw that there was plenty still on the pads.
After my track day I have thought of beefing up the brakes on the 2.....maybe some slotted disc's
Beefing up brakes for track days is generally done in the order of fluid, then pads, then rotors last.
Hey Greg, got the pads today - champ
