Alright guys.
Had a drive with a plug in thing to read the ecu. It was a cartorque one. Whats everyones air/fuel ratios?
Mine sits at 9 resting, 6.5 with boost on, and 19.5 when its off throttle. This seems way too low? Arnt most supposed to sit at 11 resting? And about 8 on boost?
Cheers
??? At idle the AFR should be 14.6. Full boost at 11~12.
Greeeaaaat!
back to the dealer i go then
9 at idle is overly rich. WOulda be somewhere massively leaking imo
Damn, your exhaust would have to be blasting out jet black smoke with AFR at 6 at WOT.
Something is not right there... 19.5 off throttle...
Either the reader is wrong or you have a stuck injector...
Yeah i took it for a decent boost through the hills to get the reading, so the exhaust is covered with soot, thats usual though isnt it?
Black soot on the exhaust tips is normal, but with AFRs in the 6's the black smoke should be roaring out the back when you plant it.
Sucks man. What's this 'cartorque' reader? The ratios between your overrun, idle and WOT seem OK, just the numbers themselves are off, so I wonder if this is a crapy reader interpreting the ecu data poorly? If it's correct though, it doesn't match your lean cel, as you are pig rich. Can you pull up the cel code using your reader? Have you done a boost leak test?
DTC?
Happen to check the fuel trims by any chance?
Mazda reset all the CEL codes last week when the engine light came on and they tried to feed me the bullshit about the car not being used to my driving.
They did mention the fuel trim being out...what is DTC?
apparently the reader isnt too bad, my mate swears by it for his subi
no odea how to do a boost leak test?
It does run a little rough at times. Its a bit heasitant to pull through the revs whenyou put your foot down. Say at about 4,000 its not sure whether to keep pulling or back off
DTC=diagnostic trouble code.
I reckon it's time to invest in a Cobb AP.
I had this same issue. Ultimately diagnosed as a failing battery. Replaced battery, and now I am a happy man
