    Default urgent help/advice please!

    Hi All,

I posted thi in tech talk but here is probably better.

I'm new here and looking at buying an MPS 6.

I've owned one years ago and regret selling it.

I have 2 options, buy an 05 with about 80,000km on it or an 06 with 150,000km but fully modified with 300hp atw for about $3000 more.

Basically the one that has been modified has all of the mods I was planning on doing myself over the next yr to 18 months.

Should I be worried about the 150,000km on it? Its been serviced every 5000km and well looked after from the looks of it.

I guess I thought slowly modifying the car might be fun but if I can get one already done...... I dont know, Im confused.

What I also forgot to add which was stupid and may be the most important part, is a modified car going to get a roadworthy in Victoria?
Or would all the parts need to be taken off and original parts put back on? (the car does come with original parts too but that wouldnt be feasable).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess its up to you. Do you enjoy the mod journey? I find it fun and at least that way you made the car to your tastes. Id go with the car that has less km's

Hi Rob, yeah I guess the idea was to have fun doing it slowly over time. However as I am no mechanic, the cost of parts and labour would creep up over $10,000 or so Im assuming. So I guess the thought of "here's one I prepared earlier" for $2,500 more was tempting.

BUT I dont think it'd pass VicRoads, but then I have no idea how many mods VicRoads will allow on a car.

Won't you have the same problem with certification and registration inspection and insurance when you do the mods yourself?
Can you budget for an engineering certification and fixing any illegal mods like maybe not enough cats?
I don't know that I would be paying more for the higher mileage modded car? You should be getting it for about the same price. That is the cruel truth of spending money on performance mods.

What are the $10,000 in parts and labour?

A RSB/REM/HPFP/AP or VT/test pipe/intake should be about $2500-3000... And that's enough to Max out the stock turbo...

Update, I just bought the SA car, very happy. Will be more fun doing the mods myself.
I'll get it hre then get the roadworthy and rego while its stock, then do the mods.
I didnt think of the engineers certificate but too late now, I think I made the right decision.
Its amazing how much these cars have dropped in price.
