Thread: Brown smoke

    Default Brown smoke

    Hi guys,

Quick update, after the turbo rebuild, new PCV valve and external oil catch can. I now have a problem with an oil smell permeating in the cabin then after a while under heavy acceleration the motor clears brown smoke out of the exhaust and it seems to clear itself for a while, then back to square one again (appears to be dirty oil, only ever use full synthetic in the car and change regularly).

The car doesn't smoke on idle or under acceleration, just after it's been running for prolonged periods, then spits out brown smoke. Any ideas before I call it quits in the car?

Brown/black smoke is normal under WOT, it's blue/white that is a concern as that would be oil.

Well are you burning through lots of oil? No oil leaking anywhere?
A shaneski said, moke is normal, but should be fuel not oil. Also shouldn't smell.
Not something silly like your catch can being full is it?
