Thread: Gen II stumbling/stuttering during acceleration

This is what the original plugs looked like.

Is it normal for 30,000km old plugs to be this black? I know that stock this engine runs rich but damn. The plugs were gapped to 0.65 mm. I gapped the new plugs at 0.7 mm.

Been driving this for 2 days now and all fluctuations and hesitation in power delivery have totally disappeared. Power delivery is very smooth now.

The bad stuttering under boost in low rpm 4th gear hasn't made an appearance either.

Mine weren't quite that black, although Ive read they are often quite black for non-etuned MPS's, glad problems have disappeared for you mate.

Been giving the car hell over the past few days, and still no sign of the issues.

Deliberately leaving rpm's low and then accelerating, power delivery smooth as.

Hopefully this is a permanent fix!

Careful doing this or you might have permanent hole in the side of your block. I would not give it heaps until at least 2500-3000rpm 3K+ in gears 4-6.....Just a recommendation.

    Yeah so far so good.

New plugs and I stretched the coil springs a bit.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the old plugs, they were just black but no cracks in porcelain or anything. Threw a new set in just to eliminate them in case something was wrong.
