Thread: What's that switch attached to my sway bar do?

Default What's that switch attached to my sway bar do?

Okay, so I have researched this a lot and the answer was probably staring me in the face but here 'tis anyway.

Attached to the front sway bar on the passenger side is what looks like a leaver which connects the sway bar to a 45 rotational switching mechanism. I'm missing this part and can't find reference to it in the workshop manual and even the Mazda dealer looked at me like I was smoking crack when I described it to the old guy.

My guess is it's either for stability control or to do with headlight pitch. Headlights do a rotation up and down whenever I turn them on - don't know if this is normal or related.

So any ideas on what does it does and part number would be handy.

    Thanks.
If its got tits or wheels...it'll be nothing but trouble!

I know the rear sway bar on the mps 6 is connected to the headlight pitch controller...... if that helps.

Oh yea, it is normal for headlights to go up and down on power up.

    Thanks wsDKII, helps a lot.

For anyone who is interested, the headlight pitch controller part numbers are as follows:

    FRONT switch: 51-21Y
    REAR switch: 51-22y
Both cost over $500 each! Don't break one!

As I am only missing the links, I will be attempting to make my own.
Can anyone please take a photo of theirs or give me a measurement from centers next time they have the passenger side wheel off?
    Cheers
