    Default Soooo much oill!

    Just had my car serviced
i think the recommended amount of oil is 5.7 litres for the motor

my car almost took 8 litres before it appeared on the dipstick as just full

    anyone else had this issue?

    Empty engine should take 5.7L

Only way it can get close to that is if your MPS has had the balance shaft deleted

That sounds odd, i have found when checking oil when first pulling the dip stick it looks low on oil, then wiping it and rechecking a few times it reads a tad over full when 5.7 litres have been put in.
Have you rechecked it since, make sure it now isn't way over full.

    Drain it, don't start it!

Correct procedure is, add recommended amount of oil (5.7L for MPS with filter change) start the engine and run for a minute or so (enough to build oil pressure and circulate through the engine) remove dipstick, wipe oil off, put dipstick in and take it out again and now check the level.

+ 1 Drain it ,straight away. Did you change oil with car on jack and stands (that will mean car is not level ,hence the extra oil to meet dipstick max) DEH!!!

Definitely something not right, I've changed mine several times now and it doesn't take any more than 5.5 litres each time.

It must be dripping out of the filler cap with 8 litres!

As i posted earlier when you first pull the dip stick it looks under low and people would think it needs shit loads more, do 2 or 3 dips to get a true reading
