You forget Todd...i was drunk 80% of the time i was there . As it turns out the offending "rattle" has been found thanks to more eyes and ears last night, nice work @Yeldarb & @albii it was a loose TMIC bracket which is coming off the car today as now redundant due to FMIC love...so trip to Newcastle no longer required @MPS2NV...well not for car repairs anyway :P

    Another big weekend over!

Thanking @70DDD, @mrs70DDD for making the trip from qld to nsw for a VVT replacement and awesome social weekend!

Means a lot to myself that some are willing to come so far and put their faith in me for repairs! So big thanks!

My car has a non timing chain rattle, you can pop up and fix if you're looking for something to do

Can anyone do this/recommend in Melbourne to assess - my MPS3 does have the tractor sound at operating temp, but I wouldn't say it rattles at start.

Sorry for the old thread bump. But trying to find a place to do the VVTI replacement as Mazda quoted me $3200 for parts, and $700 for labor. I would do it myself, but being my first time doing it, I don't want to pop the engine by flubbing it.

    It is a 2005 MPS6 with 181,000ks.

If @MPS2NV is still doing it, happy to travel, pending the rona restrictions.
