Thread: MPS garage Shifter weight

  1. Smile MPS garage Shifter weight

    Greetingz People,

Just wondering if anyone has the lil shifter weight in their gearbox, and is it any good??

The budget at the moment won't allow for a short shifter but I can probably manage the $38 for the weight, also as I don't wanna stuff around doing it myself,Cuz I'd mess it up, should I take it to a transmission shop to do, can't see the mazda dealer doing it for me??

    Thx all
    C.

if you want something to make your gearbox feel more solid I would do the shift bushes, at the moment they are plastic and very sloppy, replace them with solid metal bushes or even doing it on the cheap with metal washers will give the same effect.

Yeah I hear the bushings is a cheap, easy and effective upgrade to the shifting process.

i got mine from twmperformance in canada, cost $20US + $8 to post.

I got them from their ebay store as a "best offer"

Fitting is a ten minute job and (MZ6) you dont need to take the whole centre consol out.

but check this out first - there may be a home grown solution:

Make your own one for free its easy..

    find some Flat Bar Steel

Cut off as much as you want it to weigh..

Pin Punch 2 Centre points exactly 2cms from eachother...

Drill 2 x 6.5mm Pilot Holes in to the weight.. Use a M8 Tap Set to put a M8 Thread in the Flat bar weight you are making..

    open bonnet

    remove air box

    undo standard weight..

    Install new weight

    put air box back..

    smile and drive.
