Thread: Squeaky front spring

  1. Default Squeaky front spring

    Hi Guys,

Just realised recently that my driver side front spring squeaks quite loudly when the road becomes rough or when I drive over a speed hump.

Is it time for me to get new springs? Or is it something more serious?

    front sway bar bushings?

    Possibly.

I had disregarded that because I read somewhere that the bushings would cause more of a thud than a squeak.

Sounds like a trip to a mechanic is in order

if it is springs. could be as simple as the rubber wrap as perished. the spring is unseated. a mouse caught in the rotors. last one very unlikely. or could be a worn ball in the tie rod end or lower ball joint.

doubtful of front swaybar bushes as you get noises like hitting a 44 gallon drum with a open hand and vibrations in the footwell to go along with those noises.

I have what sounds like the same problem in my MPS6.

The dealer had a look at the last service, and their diagnosis was "Checked for cause - found strut top mounts and bearings noisy. Replacement parts GJ6E34380B x2, GJ6E3438X x2".

They're quoting over $600 to supply and fit, which make me wonder if I might as well just get new shocks/springs done at the same time.
