Following on from a post relating to the replacement of timing train components in another thread this VVT unit was dissassembled for inspection.
This unit came out of an 11/05 MPS6 with 128k and the VVT unit numbers are as follows,
L3K9 12 4 XO
C
K6T90373
5X27
Externally the unit looks and feels ok but after dissassembly its clear that this unit is well worn out around the lockout pin area and there is also wear on the internal side of the end covers of the unit, also noticable is the build up of sludge in the unit.
Pic 1 shows the inside of the front cover, you can see the wear from the VVT's range of movement.
Pic 2 shows the inside section of the VVT and the extreme amount of wear to the lockout pin detent.
Pic 3 shows the sludge build up in the units outer section.
Every man should have a V8 ute.....with a Chev badge.....and a Southern Cross sticker! Mods? What mods?
