Thread: 2013 mps 3 Yokohama geolander 225 55 18

  1. Default 2013 mps 3 Yokohama geolander 225 55 18

Hi guys does any members know if a tyre size 225 55 18 will fit standard rim?
i know these are AT/S tyres Yokohama geolander but I'm curious to know if there are no issues with scraping or rubbing.
i notice that only the profile is slightly taller than stock.
i live out bush, and unsealed roads all around and mrs just ordered new Mazda mps 3
but I know standard soft road tyres won't last very long and I previously owned WRX and had these tyres which lasted 80000km was very happy with the geolander.
    cheers

brought the wrong car for the intented use. tyres too big. 3s, especially the MPs have very still space inside the wheel arches.

you might be better off looking to see if you can decrease wheel diameter, and getting a larger aspect ratio tyre to suit.

No way they'll fit in the wheel arch. 55 is a massive aspect ratio.

It would also totally mess up your speedo, etc.

Thanks guys I guess we will just run the tyres that come standard and see how long they last.
ill look into some different setups if I need too.
Maybe the stock ones will work ok. It's only about 3 km of unsealed road.

That was my thought too. Get some cheap 17's.
Especially considering you might hit the odd pot hole or big rock, you don't want to be bending the OEM 18's.

I drive on a similar amount almost daily (I'm running Yokohama AD08 semi-slicks). It's a bitch but you will get used to it. Not worth sacrificing handling of the MPS to make a 3km trip a bit more comfortable IMO.
