Thread: Why Gen 2's are a PITA

Default Why Gen 2's are a PITA

So, decided to try out the HDI fmic.

It is built well, looks very nice, and is completely unsuited to a Gen 2's front end lol.

Apparently there was a reason why the very concise instructions have a picture of a Gen 1 on them.

For reference the HDI core is 80mm thick.

Have a look at fail in motion.

    Absolutely.

I am going to do a slight variation of the current crash bar, and put a Treadstone Tr10 in there lol.

Bummer Jason, nice looking front mount, but it is massive. Bigger than CPE then, as I thought @Cton had a few woes with his.

What is the consensus on the quality of the HDI cores?

The quality is top notch. I found it to be a very nice kit for the money.

The IC core uses a tube and fin approach instead of bar and plate, which makes them a bit larger for their flow capabilities but also has much lower pressure drop. So it is a bit of a trade off.

I would recommend it, especially for their HDI clamps, which are absolutely brilliant.

I was looking at them for the F6 - I was just a bit wary with the price tag attached being considerably lower than others.. and the fact it required cutting in order to fit.
