Thread: Front tyre wear

  1. Default Front tyre wear

    Hi All,

I know the tyre wear for our tyres is not great since its a sticky performance tyre, but just wanted to throw a question out there. The picture shows our factory Dunlop tyres with 4000km on them. My question is about the tyre wear on the outer shoulders. Both front tyres have it, the rears are fine. Front tyre pressure is 36 and rears 34. Click image for larger version.

Am I just running too low of a pressure and putting extra wear on the shoulders?

    Cheers :-)

Nope. The tyre shows sign of feathering. Like its been dragged along the road, which is a toe related problem.

I run 32-35psi in my tyres with no wear issues. I do change the pressure depending on the type of tyre side wall strength
Many want Power not many hold it long.........

As above, get a pedders safety check or similar to find what is going on.

They tried to tell me that pretty much all steering braking and suspension components on my old 3 were screwed and needed replacing
The list was huge and at cost of over $2000. I questioned them over everything And they told me it "needed" to be done
And they were pushing for me to book it in the next day as they classed it as "dangerous"
I told them I was getting a second opinion and they said something along the lines of "we don't know how you even drove it here"
I ended up waking out, Going to another mechanics and gave him the list and he laughed was telling me how fortunately I was savvy enough to seek another opinion. Was telling me stories of people getting jibbed and pedders fixing things that weren't broken.

Same thing happened on news, they took a car over to RACV to get checked over , the car was given the all clear then they took it to 4 different pedders stores and got 4 different versions of what was wrong with car, I think it ranged from $500 - $2000
I know what u mean Zebbstar I have used them before and found them a bit dodge.

Really? That is so screwed! I've been needing to go to pedders, got heaps of creaks and clunks in the back that I'm positive is suspension related.
Pretty much don't wanna go there now.. Where else can u go for suspension work? Or should I trust my mechanic to be knowledgable in suspension too. Don't know what to do now.

Not too sure what state your in but there are usually suspension specialist around ,if u use pedders mabey just get a 2nd opinion if its major,if pedders says that xyz is wrong get them to physically show and explain to u.i think with small things they would be ok but if it is major I'd be wary.

Thanks for the replies! I'll take it in to the local tyre place to have the toe checked. Could take it to pedders for a giggle too, see how many broken things there are on a 2 month old car :-P
