Just in case my last job was not hard enough, I took on a Red VY SS that had been seriously neglected, and needed more than a little Love.
While this car is 11 Years old, it only has 126k km's on it, so you would think it would be in fairly good condition...WRONG.
This shows the consequences of washing your car with the wrong equipment, and not drying, or rinsing your car off while it has detergent on it. Also how polishing your car is not the last step in a correction process, and how little protection from the elements, paint has without wax, sealant, or coatings.
There is also one picture in particular that shows how incorrectly polishing can lead to real issues later on....Read on.
After Pressure wash and hand wash
Look at those embedded water marks, oxidisation, and swirls.
Oxidisation on sides
Tailgate clear coat cracking. This is beyond correction.
That was after pressure and hand washing....Oh boy
Bonnet under lights
Right hand plastics wax and detergent staining
Roof deep scratching
Roof oxidisation
Bonnet 50/50 compound first pass
Bonnet 50/50 compound second pass
Bonnet corrected and finished down
Roof rough 50/50 compound first pass
Roof rough 50/50 compound second pass
Lower left hand side corrected
Upper left hand side compound first pass
Still some scratches...Some lol
Left hand side corrected
Only oxidisation could be removed on front guards and parts of the bonnet due to almost unbelieveably low levels of remaining clear coat
