Hi everyone. Tried doing a bit of a search but couldn't really come up with anything close to what I wanna know. Basically doing a lot of research on choosing my next car. A mate of mine suggested the mazda 6 mps but im kinda leaning towards the 3 just because the engine is the same and weighs a good 200kgs less and you don't lose as much power because of the AWD. I just wanted to know what makes the mazda 3 mps so good? Because the cars im looking atm is a 410HP VY SS, 05-07 WRX or the mazda (was considering buying a 350z and doing the supercharger or turbo kit but figure it might be cheaper to buy a car that already has forced induction). I currently drive a Nissan stagea so im more prone to nissans and the potential power of rb engines and being the cheapest to get good power out of. So some questions to be answered please Is the LSD good? I remember my old sss pulsar had stupid amounts of torque steer and that was at 110kw lol im also wanting to do big power down the track so how much torque steer would you get in say 250+ front wheel kw? The other question is tuners + parts. I assume people are purchasing bolt on gear through Australian suppliers and US ones if they are cheap enough, but how many actual tuners in Perth are there that can work on these cars? Read on another post something like 2 places do it atm and Mao @ Evo R is contemplating doing tunes ? (which would work out perfectly coz hes my tuner atm). Is there even bolt on parts for the mazda 3s in Perth? coz on this site a lot of the tuners and businesses are over east (Perth is so lame sometimes lol). How much coin would actually need to be spent to get stupid power i.e.300 front wheel kw lol is that even possible or is the technology not quite there yet? i.e. I was contemplating getting something like a s15 200sx just because ive always loved the car and you can get stupid power for like 5-10k but feel like 2002 is getting too old and looking at cars around 2005 onwards and there's some pretty cheap 06 onwards mps 3s going in the 17-20k price range. What sort of power can stock internals of the mazda handle? i.e. I don't want to do forged bottom end or anything so wanna know whats the max power I could get without having to do that i.e. ill still do fuel pump, ecu, big turbo, injectors, forward facing plenum (if these exist), bigger throttle body, cams, exhaust, CAI and that's it probably but in a 200sx you could easily hit 250rwkw I think before stuff starts melting and rebuild is required and its another 200ish kgs lighter than the mazda and RWD lol And then in the end theres still a little voice saying stuff turbos coz so many little things can cause a problem (but im hoping because its a newer car and not one built in the 90s I would possibly have better luck in regards of things needing to be replaced I.e. ive spent 10k on my stagea and like 7 of that was for things just to return it back to stock working order :/ Anyways sorry about the long post and no paragraph spaces but for some reason when I press the enter key it wont put in a space and its bs also is there an accronyms page for newbies? coz ive never been on a forum that uses so many bloody accronyms for everything i.e DP (I assume dump pipe or down pipe), TMIC (Top mount intercooler?) CAI (Cold air intake) but wtf is SRI and TBI and theres a boat load of others that is making reading information on this forum damn hard :/ lol thanks for the help and hopefully someone out there can highlight the advantages and potentials of this car to help me make up my mind. Feel free to give ur opinions about the mazda 6 mps the only issues I see are that it weighs almost as much as my wagon and AWD and at that weight you need stupid power to go fast and the stupid commonwhores are so tempting esp 413 RWHP ones lol too many choices in the 17-20k range in pretty much any price range these days. Also I should mention that I will never take my car to the track so will be my weekend/daily driver depending on my mood and that I just want a car that chops heaps of stuff in a straight line I.e. I was thinking mx5 because apparently its one of the best handling cars out there, but in a straight line it will get chopped by everything so decided against that and if I get a turbo it needs to be able to beat v8s lol (therefore justifying the 'Jap pos' comments that always occur when driving imports lol) it just sux coz pretty sure for like 5-8k you can turn a ss into a 400+HP car which would chop everything in a straight line (I mean I don't do circuit racing so taking corners wouldn't be super important (maybe sometimes when going through roundabouts) but tbh I don't see why everyone bags out the ss for handling coz I think they still grip pretty good, just too much bodyroll at times which im sure could be sorted out with whiteline sway bars, etc). Thanks for any advise, cheers. Regards, Peter.
