Hey ho!
Have just ordered some new wheels, once they arrive - any recommendations on something i should treat/wax them with to help protect and maintain?
Cheers,
Kyle.

Opti coat
@Caffeine Fiend ?

You can Opti-Coat them. That's a good permanent solution. Otherwise you can use a high-temp wax like FK1000p from ZAS. A standard wax won't last long on wheels usually because the heat generated from the brakes affects durability. That's why a good high temp wax can work well

Thanks for the replies, i'll look into Opti-Coat
Okay, so i now have these in my possession after months of waiting - but have heard mixed reports on wheel coatings.
Is it actually worth-while, are they factory coated? Ta!
It will make cleaning them easier and possibly protect against light scratching. Opticoat is your best bet as mentioned previously, otherwise Finish Kare 1000p should work well.
Is Opticoat friendly to apply without any experience, or - can anyone recommend anyone to apply here in Perth?
Authorised Opti-Coat Dealers
Like your headlights and Opti-Lens though, Opti-Coat 2.0 is ok as long as you prep correctly, have good lighting and work methodically.
If you want something less permanent, then you can go with the high-temp wax as above. Personally if the wheels are off the car I'd consider Opti-Coating them. Then you don't have to worry about re-applying down the track etc
Dan.. how long would an application of FK1000p last on set of wheels?

About a month or so under normal conditions mate (daily driver)

Damn. I just had the new car opticoated. Was gonna ask them to do the wheels but forgot.
Thread revival! But just so everything is in the one place - i booked the wheels in for Opti-Coat today
Will be done Thursday evening, and i'll post some pics afterwards!
Anyone recommend a good tyre gel/shine? Using Meguiars at the moment, but its horrible to use. Very oily and smeary!

I got some of this about a month ago, it's a nice flat black (almost want to say satin), it's non greasy and pretty easy application.
Good luck with the coating on the wheels, pretty keen on seeing the results!
Another thread revival. Any update of the wheel coating @bodyboardingbum ? How are they holding up with the opticoat?

Fantastic!
Only positive comments about the OptiCoat here. Makes cleaning ridiculously easy, water beading in the wet, and road grime/dirt doesn't adhere as easily.
Watermarks still settle in the dish barrel of the rim if I don't dry by hand - but that's due to the design of the wheel.
picsss
Awesome. Sounds definitely worth it. Does it help at all for stone chips that you have noticed? And yeah, pics. Lol

Need to get onto this as well...new wheels only a few days away
it won't help with chips. No coating will as they're not designed to protect against strike damage. Only films like paint protection film stand a chance, and even then I've seen stones go through them before.
It will help with chemical resistance thereby making them easier to clean.
