Hey guys. Anyone here replaced their flywheel with a lightweight one? I was thinking this about doing this mod but would like to here from others who have done so. I would imagine its the best way to get more power at the wheels yeah?

I havn't done it, but was wondering how much would you be looking at to replace the flywheel. as in the cost of the part and getting it fitted?
Would be a good 5 hours labour im tipping (includes r&r gearbox offcourse)
Im assuming your doing this cause your clutch is stuffed?
My clutch seems ok. just seems like a pretty cool way of adding power and taking strain off the engine / gbox. Have a couple of mechanic mates who would probably do the install for a carton of rum.

i wish i had those mates, would look at a clutch upgrade while at it
i plan to do this if its beneficial
A carton of Rum? Like 12 bottles? You sure they are mates? lol
Nah more like 24cans.
Peak Power output is for talking, torque is for winning.

I need to do more overtime!
I did this to my Polo Gti. Went from a dual-mass flywheel to a singlemass light weight flywheel. DEfinately quicker acceleration..ie" more power to the wheels..less inertia mass thingy. But it was quite noisy..only drawback, car almost had the diesel engine sound. REmember tho this was on the Plo Gti things might be different for an MPS
