So looking at the photo, this mod basically modifies the GB swing arm?
so how do I get one? cost ? and how effective are they in reducing throw by how much? Install difficulty level ? Does it improve the shift feel ?
These trannys are notchy so unless you rip that apart and modify it you will always have that not to mention the slop in them. 15-30min install depending on your intake stock or aftermarket.
2.60in or 2&5/8 at at 35% reduction!! Diffrence ME
2.68in or 2&11/16 at 33% +1/16 RKM
2.80in or 2&25/32 at 30% +5/32 TWM
2.80in or 2&25/32 at 30% +5/32 COBB

Premature clutch wear?
Speed3 Shorten shifter travel - Mazda Forums
This is like the short Shifter i did in my VW Golf..
There isnt really any negatives..
althou i did make my throws rediculouslyh short in my R32 :P
it was about 3cm overal shift from 1st to 2nd :P
it was adjustable to any lenghy thou :P
it wouldnt have any premature wear issues at all...
as your only shifting the point where the effort of movement is made around the fulcrum.. (maybe my terminology is incorrect but any way)
you MAY at a slight possibility wear your synchros from the ability to shift from point a-b slightly quicker.. but it would be no different to you from Rapid Cog swapping when at the track or on the strip...
I modified mine yesterday..
shit it makes everything a little more precise..
did it as per the thread i posted above..
it is essentially what the shifter plate does.. except Shifterplate is 100% reversible..
Mine on the other hand is adjustable but it means i have 2 8mm holes in my Shifter Mech in the engine bay.. one has the Ball connecter and the other does.. so its only a matter of 30 minutes to adjust the throw just need my allen key and phillips screw driver
I wont be adjusting it any time soon thats for sure..
Also made my Own Shifter Weight...
Found a Lump of Mild Steer Flat Bar cut a end off off it that looked around the size of the COBB tuning one.. drilled and tapped some holes on my Drill Mill at work..
Whaddaya know it weight almost the same as the cobb one..
Installed..
The big smile on my dial is just a bonus
All i need now is some new gearbox oil and ill be gigglign like a little girl..
I finnally went and looked at this MOD (wreck) WOW!!!!
Some of the things people do to there cars.
That hole being on the edge of that shift arm like that will crack sooner or later. Go ahead and yank on it for second gear again and agian. You might as well price up one of those now cause your going to need one sooner or later.
my hole not near the edge...
you definately have a set of steel one's to attempt that !!
not really it was simple..
just need the tools...
then again.. im well known for pulling apart shit and playing around with it pretty fearlessly
