Thread: 3.5" intakes come at me bro

  1. #1

Default 3.5" intakes come at me bro

For those not in the loop, JBR and HTP now have 3.5" intakes for the 3 AND 6 (OD 3.5" ID 3.37")
JBR site is not updated yet but a full 3.5" silicone piece is due shortly
You will need to relocate battery unless you have a small battery and possibly ECU
Im thinking of going the 3.5" as I have a small battery and will report back with any gains after my retune for those interested, will also have full3aeros for sale shortly

Hopefully it work's Daz, is it going to be 3.5" from the Intake?

    Or go 3" to 3.5"?

Dazza, Are you running a K04? I'm thinking about going wide path (with a test pipe) before getting an e-tune.
I would've thought 3" intake would've been an ample source but you're going bigger? Is your 3 inch for sale yet? Does the SURE have a 3 inch MAF housing?

edit: Scratch that I just noticed you have a MPS6 but still curious on your thoughts...

Yep still on k04 but I'll be going bnr s3.. Just want all I can get out of it. The SURE is like 2.87" id maf sizing, any of the available intakes will max out the k04 I think

Yeah this blog is what convinced me to grab a new intake > Blog : Does a downpipe make a difference on a stock turbo MazdaSpeed3? : Stratified Automotive Controls written by Lex one of the tuning Guru Tuners over on MS Forums. I've bitten the bullet and bought a new JBR WP 3" and am about to drop some money on a new TMIC. I was thinking then to get an E-tune and see what gains I can get minus the big job of a Downpipe (Just Test Pipe + CBE). It'd also be easy to part out then if I get tired of the car. How's the CP-E TMIC to your liking? I've was about to go with the SU TMIC.

Edit: I think this forum post is also worth checking out with respect to WP intakes > http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...erence-126226/

    dont get SU...
get a CPE, ETS or corksport

test pipe will give you 90-95% of gains of normal DP on stock turbo

Really! Oh well. I just bought the SU about 10 minutes before I got your advice. I guess we'll see. I have heard about a few recall (alignment) issues with them but also that they have a good core (some have said ETS re-badge?)
I'm hoping for the best and I wanted a couple of other things like the $50 triple gauge pod from StreetUnit so I hope it'll be a win but at worst I'll do some ghetto mods if alignment is an issue. @SarcasticOne What's your take on the SU TMIC?
