Thread: CAI installation tips - dont wreck your ecu loom!

  1. Default CAI installation tips - dont wreck your ecu loom!

Hey guys, Just bought my 05 MPS6 and loving it ! previous owner provided me with a CP-e CAI and i believe a CP-e Turbo inlet pipe.

Sooo ..... WHO WANTS TO HELP WITH INSTALLATION , i would love to learn the internals of this vehicle, and have always learnt more effectively through prac than theory.

Whatever you do, for the love of baby jesus PLEASE make sure that the clamp (TIP->SRI) next to the battery is on so that the screw is on the OPPOSITE side (AWAY FROM) the battery...
If it moves around it can eat out your ECU loom (not in a good way).

Yes, this applies to Gen1/Gen2/and 6MPS.

I dont know how much it is to fix, but its VERY expensive to replace the whole loom

my cheap 2 second depiction - dont have a better photo since I dont have the car anymore.. maybe someone else can help.

In this pic I have rotated the clamp so the screw clears, its actually better to put it on the other way around I think, if you can access it..

On first inspection 99% of people will put it even with the loom - its an easy mistake to make.. dont do the same

Will I have to be careful if I was just installing an SRI alone?
