    Default Clutch Slip

Anyway i thought i would take the 6mps for a run at the drags last night and on the first run i had major clutch slip , 1st 2nd and 3rd gear , just rolled after that.
Besides the smell of burnt clutch the car drives fine on the street, so is it possible that i just slipped it too much and overheated it and it's fine as long as i stay away from the track ? Or should it be replaced asap ?

probably just overheated if it still drives fine.

if you can load it up in 4th or so, and it wont slip.. I dare say you have just cooked it..

Ive seen some pretty horrific clutch abuse on an MPS.. and it still drove fine...

You drive an MPS6! dump it.. dont slip it ...lol

Launch technique for the MPS6...this is scary...

    1. Build revs to 4000rpm and dump the clutch.

    2. Shift from 1st to 2nd at 5500 WITHtOUT RELEASING THE GAS (so scary) and then the same from 3rd to 4th...

I have never done this. far too scary

Since breaking an axle ages ago I've never had the courage to do this. But the alternative is lots of clutch slip. Come to think of it, an axle is easier to replace than a clutch......

If you're going to dump it make sure the wheels are pointed straight ahead and the traction control is tuned off - traction control can break an axle.

I guess the 6mps just doesn't like the abuse (seem a bit fragile) .
Great car to drive , maybe not so great to race

Err, I would not try this from 1st to second. I do this 2nd to 3rd and so on and that works fine but 1st to second will put too much force through the transmission. You will break something for sure.

if the box is anything like a wrx box you'll get half way through 2nd then F***ing bang!!!! try getting of it street style then once your rolling pop the clutch again to spool up should be ok i have driven a wrx many times and its worked for me in it

Are we talking about flat-shifting here? Won't that put incredible stress on the clutch?

ALso, does anyone have any other advice on launch techniques for the 6 MPS? I'm just concerned that the quoted technique would hammer the shyte out of the clutch...
