God knows how Ford dream up their names for mechanical contrivances! Surely the can do better than "Revoknuckle" and "Ecoboost". Revoknuckle is evocative of an idiot driving too fast. But they've done it for years, even commandeering "Cross-flow" when Riley actually invented it, and the technology, in the 1920's.
Actually it seems to be an American thing and not just Ford. We have "Econopower" from GM, which must be their "foot-in-both-camps" version of Ecoboost. It says "look, we have power but we are green too". Then there are all the nutty names from the 50's like "Dynapower", "Powerglyde", "Hemipower" and so on. Very childish, I think.
