No it took me a while to find that - had it saved in my "watching" list. Picked up a flip-top GPS last week, which will do the job however like you once a more mature tablet/amp/double din setup crops up, I'll be all over that.
Sounds good tony, I'm going to do same when the opportunity arises. Also have a 7" touch screen VGA, some small laptops/netbooks, in waiting for a future mod. I'm much better with the gadgetry side of things in my MPS than the mechanical, which seems OK Didn't know the iPad mini lacked GPS - a big shortcoming - if it can be jailbreaked one day you could run a patched bluetooth stack on the Mini + bluetooth GPS + Tomtom etc. ... food for thought anyhow.
Oh, and this is the link to the Chinese aftermarket flip-up GPS unit I just installed:
Yeah Byrd, I've looked into jailbreaking iOS devices and sharing the GPS from my Android via bluetooth and it's definitely do-able but I'm not sure how seamless it'll be and I don't know if the BT stack can forward the GPS to Tom Tom. Would rather just fork over some more dollars for legit GPS. I'll test this with my iPod touch once a untethered jailbreak is out for iOS6 (A4 chip).
I cant decide whether I want the iPad Mini or the Nexus 7. I much prefer Android over iOS in general but I much prefer the Music player in iOS, specifically the Genius playlist generator function. I use it all the time on my iPod.
Ultimately, I just want some fancy touch screen computer / tablet thing with music and GPS where the stock stereo is now.
Even though I'm an Apple fanboy (I'm a moderator/involved on Mactalk Australia forums), I'd very much be inclined to go the Nexus 7, and run Torque + bluetooth OBD2 adapter. That looks awesome.
