Thread: MPS 3 Turbo Kit Hmmmm

  1. #1

Default MPS 3 Turbo Kit Hmmmm

Was just looking on MPSG and they have the new CP-E turbo upgrade kit (which looks quite awesome) for like $7400, CP-E sell the kit fir $4500 depending on turbo will be extra. Anyway just thought id show how much more expansive these guys are. Yes i have bought from them but only small things and when price diff may have been $50. Just not sure how they justify the price difference....

It is well known that mpsg tag a fair bit on top of what you can purchase the item for directly from the supplier... Amongst other things it has always been recommended to buy from the supplier to avoid potential issues

    1) complete rip off, could custom build your own T3 (or even better: twinscroll T4) manifold and v-band down pipe for substantially less than the cost of that... heck, full AN fittings for turbo should only cost ~$500
    2) if you're going T3/T4, dont waste time with the garret turbos... there is much better on offer out there
    3) that kit doesnt have any cats, thereby making it illegal to run on the street (not that mpsg would care about that...)

Still cant see the 3500 increase in price lol. yeah it doesnt come with cats but u can always get them installed just after the DP. Looks like a cool kit though from CP-e if your starting from scratch

honestly, even if it was sent here at the US price, no shipping or tax, still overpriced imho...
can pick up an ebay v-band DP (catless) for $200 + $300 to get a CAT welded in
$1500 for fabrication of the manifold + re-routing EWG
    $300 for a tial 38mm wastegate
    $300 for intake
$600-700 for all the gaskets and braided AN fittings

works out to be about $3500 for parts alone, leaves you $2500 to spend on a turbo, which could let you pick up a nice precision or EFR turbo, possibly divided T4 or T25 if you're after maximum performance

Pretty harsh reason to ban them if it was.

    incredibly helpful/informative post that one
there's a heap of reasons (ie, stuff being in stock, until you pay) and then getting caught out using fake accounts on the forums caused them to be banned

It's a loooooong and complicated story.
That's been played to death. And goes far deeper than what you will publicly see.
Let's just leave it at that
