Default What sorcery is this ZAS Surface Prep Towel!?

I added one of these to my last ZAS order (I was running low on Amigo and a few other things, plus you can never have too many microfibres) after reading about it on the Detail Paradise forums and I am quite amazed at how well it worked on the car, not only does it do a job as well as a clay bar but it does it in half the time (probably less) with no marring that I could see. While it is pricey to buy initially, if the promise of 100 uses it true then it's much better value than clay (40c per use vs $5-10 and that's with me being super tight with clay, using it for way longer than I should be).

Colour me amazed, great product Joel, thanks!

    Sorry, action shots.

    Yes, awesome product.

Those who came along to the car care clinic I ran knew of my scepticism regarding some of the other clay bar alternative products I'd trialled for ZAS. Based partially on this feedback Joel pulled the pin on importing these earlier cheaper products.

So with a fair bit of the same scepticism I gave this towel a go a few months ago and haven't looked back. Awesome product. I've only once since gone back to clay and that was purely as a "head check" to make sure that I wasn't deluding myself with regard to the performance of this towel. The clay lasted half a panel before I pick up the towel again and kept going

    Highly recommend

Edit: Just a note regarding its use. There is the temptation to use pressure on the towel while wiping it over the car's surface......don't!

Treat it like you would normal clay. Use only enough pressure to keep it on the panel and you'll see excellent results without marring. Even on soft paint.

It can take a bit of 'unlearning' to do this, but the results are worth it

It'll work better than clay on hot paint

But you should always work with cool panels and not in direct sunlight...... mornings or evenings usually work well if you don't have cover to work in

Yep that's the one (complete with pic of my bonnet that the towel is being sexily modelled on )

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

One thing to note is the cloth works better once worn in. When new and/or used incorrectly it can mar the paint. Anyone looking at buying one, do read the directions on how to deal with this!

    This ^

A nifty side effect of the process of breaking in the towel is you get nice smooth windows too

(You break then in on glass. Very easy)

I followed the directions and broke the towel in on an old glass shelf, I didn't even think to do it on a window on the car..in fact, I've never thought of using clay on windows at all, I'll give it a go next time. I have however used Prima Cut/Swirl/Finish on the (considerably hazy) headlights on our old Forester, they came up like brand new, amazing!

Add some Optimum Opti-Bond tire gel to the order......best stuff ever*

    * Next to Prima Amigo. Order some of that too if you don't have any

If I could drink Amigo, I would, I love it that stuff so much (for how it makes the car look, not the smell) but the best of all is the Meg's Interior Detailer, that stuff smells so much like bubblegum I'm surprised there isn't a giant "DO NOT DRINK" sticker somewhere on the bottle.

Lusso Auto Bathe is the best smelling detailing product ever....it's basically a hair shampoo

It costs a fortune and isn't a patch on Optimum Car Wash though IMO

How does Optimum compare to the Prima Mystique? I love how Mystique leaves the car but it doesn't "foam" as much as I'd like a wash to do, it's probably a psychological thing but I need lots of bubbles when I'm washing something so I know it's doing something

I prefer OCW over Mystique. It foams in the bucket better.
