Default Possible CV joint; Adelaide mechanic/specialist?

    Hi Kids,

So even though I've only had this girl a few weeks, I get the feeling I could be checking out the CV joints soon. Just want to see if anyone else thinks it may be the same thing, further, if anyone in Adelaide has a mechanic they trust that's familiar with Mazda/MPS(6)s, I'd be interested. More interested if anyone else has had this problem.

So from standstill, light take-off, rarely when moving straight forward, more noticeable when turning both directions from standstill, slight 'clicking/engaging' sound that I originally thought was glass in the tyre.. Only just appears to happen just after release of clutch. (sound appears to come from front, both sides)

Doesn't make this noise stationary, doesn't increase with rev.

Concerned likely have to get both sides done and further concerned that mazda will somehow have CV's available by themselves (more researching today)

    Thanks,

    Luken

Go and have a chat with your local Pedders store as they would be able to replace the CV joints and perform and wheel alignment at the same time.

From what you are saying, it does sounds like the front CV's are on their way out, but will have to do a thorough check and confirm.

Mine has developed a similar thing to what your describing, it's like a high pitched 'chink' sound that happens on quick clutch release at slightly high rpm (about 3k) and from a quick dab on the throttle

    ****. But not a bad ****, just a different kind of ****.

So the boys at Pedders Keswick had the car for an hour and a half and couldn't fault the car. CV joints are perfect. And kind of as I'd hoped/feared, this 'click' only happens once, and doesn't continue to grind (not particularly audible from inside the car so CVs were first guess.)

As it turns out, I also need new rotors at the front *dild0s*

So back to square one. At least it's not CV. Now trying to toss up what would click/engage/crack just at clutch disengage light load more prevalent at low take-off..... get the feeling I'm in for a mazda service but not sure I want to pay for them to faulfind for hours just yet... any other ideas guys?

I have a similar noise from the front, turns out that my brake pads are moving due to the callipers missing the clip that retains them in position. Its only noticeable from a static start after reversing.

...... I'm checking them out in the morning. If that's all it is, I'm going to be very very happy. Thanks man

i have a noise that i thought was either my CV joints, diff or power steering pump... turns out it's neither of those things, but the lowered king springs i put on my car are doing a number on the shock absorber bushings or the springs aren't seated properly or something and a piece of rubber needs replacing that somehow justifies to me spending $500 to fix it... i'm just gonna save up for some coilovers instead i think, maybe one of those is what's happening to yours? as for MPS mechanics, S&J Auto in Edwardstown is good otherwise my local mechanic is Mobile Auto Care in Hallet Cove if you live near there, they come out to your house and do work so you don't have to walk around aimlessly while they work on your car for however long
