My previous mechanic used this product and haven't had any problems though the first time I used it however I noticed a severe drop in oil levels around the 4,000 km post service mark but that was due to a faulty oil line. After reading a few reviews I ended up switching to Castrol Edge 10w-40 which is a fully synthetic as opposed to the Magnatec being semi-synthetic I believe?

Car runs smoother and crisper so I'm pretty pleased.

    Yeah it's a Semi Syn.
    Got no time for dat!!!

The Castol Site says the 5w30 is what is recommended. Think I'll go with the 10w but unsure about 30-40

    -------Edit------
The Castrol Edge site say they only make 0w40, 10w60, 5w30, 5w40 and 25w50

Correct. I just went into the garage and had a look, it's 5w40. I'm assuming that's what @Mr.Harry is purchasing tomorrow as well.

Other than 5w30/40 I haven't seen any other grades of Edge on the shelves.

When you do the lube selector for consumers they recommend Castrol Edge 5w30

For the Workshop Lube Guide they recommend Castrol Magnatec 10w30 (which my dealer is using)

Ok Mobil have no match service - not bothering

Shell recommend Helix HX7 AJ which is specifically designed for Japanese engines and specifically Direct injection

    Standard: 10w40
    Premium: 10w30

I have no idea what standard and premium relate to viscosity

Reding further the AJ variant on the HX7 range only comes in 10w30

    The standard HX7 comes in 10w 40

Supercharging have the AJ in 10w30 6ltr for $44.99

There is no Castrol 10w40. Only 5w40 which I use. Our engines get hot so nothing below 40 and depends on what kind of climate you live in. Seeing it is. Colder in VIC I would go 10 but 5 or 10 should be fine.

Unless you wanna use the Shell Helix HX7
But not only goes to 10w30

    The standard Helix HX7uses 10w40
