Thread: Help with tyres please :)

Default Help with tyres please :)

Hi all, I'm in need of new tyres for the BL MPS rims I got the other day, what size are the tyres stock?
And would you recommend 235/45/18? Also what brands? The only experience I have in buying new tyres was a set of Bridgestone RE002's for my old Peugeot 206 Gti which were great and handled just as good in the wet as in the dry.

Also sorry if this is in the wrong section or covered in another thread, please feel free to link me. Thanks,
    Cam.

What sort of tires you after?
235/45 will throw your speedo out

In descending order of tread wear:

    Michelin pilot super sports
    Yokohama AD08
    Hankook RS3

Just ones that grip well overall, I'm not going to race on them but there's some decent winding roads here I like to have a bit of a boot up.

And thanks for that, so just stick to the 225/45/18?

BL rims? Stock tyre is 225/40 R18.

How much are you willing to spend per tyre? Budget is the biggest driver of this decision really.

Around $200-$250 per tyre would be good... But I'm open to suggestions, I've heard good things about Hankook Ventus or something like that?
    I also only have a SP25.

Would the Michelins be the best wearing tyre in that list, or the worst?

The best wearing. Try checking tire rack for reviews.

I've had federals previously and was unhappy as they overheated way too easily!

Do your research and decide what you want out of the tyres.

I chose the pzeros for missus car and the pilot super sports for mine.
They are both a similar tyre but needed the extra grip in the three.

i've read the reports on tyre rack etc... but was keen on ozmpsclub members first hand thoughts/impressions on them.

Once the fronts are worn on my car (currently has Carbon series on the fronts...never heard of em, place where i bought the car must have put them on) then Michelins PSSs shall be employed on all corners. Im expecting a day/night contrast to grip levels.

Just watch your load ratings. Most of their 225s are less than the minimum 88 required.

Just settled on some KU36's $200 ea. fitted. Will see how they go as I just needed the backs replaced cause they're odd. Fronts are SP sports 01.
