Default 2014 Mazad6 family melds efficiency, sexiness

Filed under: SEMA Show, Sedan, Wagon, Europe, Japan, Mazda, Diesel

The all-new 2014 Mazda6 Wagon has officially bowed under the lights of the 2012 Paris Motor Show along with its fresh-from-Moscow twin, the Mazda6 sedan. Both machines now boast a full suite of Skyactiv efficiency technologies for the first time, and as such, are lighter than their predecessors.

The wagon debuts with a 173-horsepower 2.2-liter Skyactiv diesel engine in two power configurations, both of which conform to Euro 6 emission standards without the burden urea injection. Mazda isn't saying exactly what sort of fuel economy we can expect from the wagon, but earlier estimations put the diesel sedan in the 43-miles-per-gallon highway range. Expect similar from the five-door.

Buyers will also be able to purchase the 2014 Mazda6 with a direct-injection gasoline 2.0-liter four-cylinder good for 148 horsepower as well as a 2.5-liter gasoline direct injection engine with 189 horsepower. Like the four-door, the long roof will make use of the Mazda i-ELOOP brake regeneration system. Check out the full press release below.Continue reading 2014 Mazad6 family melds efficiency, sexiness

    First drive review: Mazda6
Not a particularly favourable Australian review. First of many reviews to expect given the car isn't here yet!

That review seemed to read that it is what it is, a fairly well put together and nice to drive family taxi *shrug*. Would not expect anything else unless they had slapped a MPS badge on it.

Local dealer advised me today the New Mazda6 will be available from December 2012, price tag $38k - $56k. Apparently 'sales have been brought forward for Australia'. This from a man who didn't know the new Mazda3 pics had been leaked tho.

There is a give away for a new Mazda 6 diesel GT spec. Read the fine print and yes, total prize value $56k.
    Forget that.
The problems the Mazda 6 always had (confirmed by the local dealer) is why would you buy the 6 when you could buy a 3 that goes better, more fuel efficient, more features and better value?
They had a lux sport 6 on the lot for at least 6 months, price was reduced down $10k and they still couldn't sell it. SP25's they were selling within the week they got it

So true. For the Gen 1's I felt the 6 didnt offer much more than the 3. The internal cabin size felt about the same, just with more boot space in the 6. Havent been in the Gen 2's, interesting to see how the Gen 3's feel inside.
