Yeah, the DGR's were good, just too firm for me. But they are good value for money.

Springs? GSL are suggesting Kings, but I can only see 1 set on the "LOW's" catalog on King's page, and they're for BK MPS's. Hmmm

Stock springs and a hack-saw? Jks

Most springs for the gen 2 seem to be 1-1.5" drop, nothing near what you had by the look of it

This (http://www.tunersdepot.com/Mazda_Maz...ng_Springs.htm) lists a few 'race drop' springs, might be worth checking out.

On stock shocks, yep, I'd go Eibach. On something high end like Bilstein Kings are the better spring IMHO.

Keep in mind though, 'low' for the MPS is 'super low' for the normal 3. Generally where Kings don't list a super low it's for good reason. If they made 'super low' for MPS, it would be the equivalent of 'ultra low' for a normal 3, which would start to upset geometry etc too much.

Really? I thought Eibachs were meant to be close to top-of-the-rung. Why do you think kings are a better spring with billies?

    With what shocks though?

Springs (regardless of brand, wind, static rate etc) are ALWAYS linear WRT to rate versus speed (which is the complete opposite of shocks which get firmer with increased shaft speed). Springs DO NOT determine ride quality, shocks do. Most issues with ride quality (particular with Kings) is the inability of the shock to control the oscillation of the spring (shock too weak), or the inability of the spring to open on rebound (shock too firm).

English = B8 are highly damped and king spring are a harder spring rates they compliment each other

Because they're a higher end rate spring that require a higher rate shock. Eibach's standard application spring (not race coils) work well on OEM style twin tube shocks. Kings, which generally care more for performance, require a higher end shock to get the most out of them, like a monotube Bilstein.

Reason's why Kings cop are bad wrap:
    - They're cheaper than the import stuff, so people assume without knowing SFA.
    - Because they're cheaper, they tend to get fitted by people who can't afford to replace, or replace with something decent, the shocks. Then they blame the spring for their fully sick AE92 Corolla* on factory shocks bro riding like a bucket of crap or trying to skit off the road....

    * Massive generalization for dramatization. But you get the idea.

The last good thing the Subaru World Rally Team did before withdrawing from the WRC was switch to Kings. Kings are also the OEM supplier to DMS and MCA coilovers, easily the two most respected brands of suspension made in this country. Kings use a French source steel (unlike one of their major local competitors that use Daewoo Mill sourced steel from China) and are one of the best quality springs on the planet. There's a reason why they're the largest in the southern hemisphere.

I know that opinion will go against what a ot of keyboard warriors will try and tell you, but the proof is in the pudding... thanks @RedDjinn!

TBH, Kings in mind were "the cheap stuff Commodore owners put in the 3.8 Ecotec (I still laugh at Eco).

Thanks for the input. Decision made. Now just waiting on a Kings special week...

    Fixed!

Plenty of knowledgeable Commodore owners do fit Kings though... generally they're V8 Supercar teams!

The properly cheap owners just cut springs, clearly you've been dealing with the cashed up ones

Thanks GSL for the info. Good to see you guy's put the effort into knowing your stuff rather than just plugging the most expensive gear.

Yeah, I thought the same. Keen to see how they turn out with the billies.

Not a problem at all! We do stock Eibach though, and I'd happily supply it to anyone that wants it!
