Default MPSs in Hot Tuner Shoot Out - Motor Sept 2012

Attached is the PDF scan of relevant sections for MPS...
not the greatest scan, and ive had to reduce the quality of it a bit (ie, alot...) original was 21MB, this is 1.7MB

    anyways, feel free to discuss
slow qtr mile time for both is obvious... (14s???) but most interesting bit for me (and @bd581) was the comment about how wheel offset has affected handling

    Enjoy!

EDIT (JMac) - HQ Version (22MB) Open at own peril, suggest right click save as rather than opening - http://www.ozmpsclub.com/files/HotTuner2012MPS.pdf

"The leveller is cost, given that The THR package is getting on for $18K before you factor in the rims and rubber.

Holy shit THR and MRT MPS's are close, interesting fact is THR mps had more power but was only hundreds of a sec faster (MRT BNRs2 17psi 215kw , THR i think BNRs3 (23psi so i was told 241 kw).. Cant believe the costs im glad i do it all myself!

Wonder is Jim retuned it for the event?

We all know fitting wider rims wont help cornering, adds looks... Anther interesting thought MRT fitted 215 wide tyres Why???..

Are you able to get me the big version of the PDF Sam via yousendit or similar ?, I can work some prepress magic over the file that should bring it down to a sensible size, and still legible

    This ^

Love what APR do with Golfs. Not cheap though once you go past Stage 1

Be interesting to see how the MPS fared against the others on a bang for buck basis. IT looks like the MPSs have been left for dead compared to the other cars, but interesting to see how much they spent overall.

    I still love my car

MPS is doing well for the price I guess.. More so looking at the gen1 what you can buy one for now is alot less than a Golf R. Some of those numbers are BS I reckon

    Bought the mag tonight.

    APR Golf R

The turboed 86 looks to be the goods as well.

Understeer was the complaint common to both MPS's, but good to see MRTs entry on some stickier rubber this time.

Would like a high res too!

APR are quality - mate has stage 2 - but they're like Apple - once you start with them they lock you in. It gets real expensive real fast.

I'm surprised they ran those wheels on the TH car, why not just swap back to a set of wheels with the proper offset? It probably cost them half a second on the circuit.

the 215 tyres on the MRT car is apparently a typo. Just like the typo saying the TH car has 4 pot brakes but the photo clearly shows the stock caliper.

Shame the MRT car was under tyred....again.
But I do understand that they were showing what's capable of a truly streetable car. Semi slick the others ran aren't really daily tyres.
The turbo 86 is quick, what it could and should have been. However, at $67k its only a bit quicker on the track than one of the Golf R's, but slower everywhere else. The golf is only $3k dearer and isn't built like a subaru!
Will be interesting to see how long the turbo 86 lasts before some really big bills start rolling in.
