engine mount upgrade with ets
do i need to get the cpe engine mount when i upgrade to a 3.25" ets tmic?
my mount unlike so many others is perfect, not a sign of wear or breaking....
but is it going to have the issues or was it just with the 3.5" tmic?
or is it a case of just trimming the back of the plate around the ets so it does not rub?
-
i read it was only with the 3.5" but i would recommend an engine mount. It helps with shifting and you get to feel through the accelerator what the car is doing. Not sure about the CPE mount, but the AWR felt like stock but when I removed it, it had a tear. I have the TRZ mount now and havent had any issues.
so.........if you want to spend some more money, buy a mount otherwise you should be fine with the 3.25" even shaving a bit off just to be safe.

The 3.5 "may" hit the firewall without a mount aswell as rub under really hard driving.
My 3.5 goes in this week (MPS6) so watch this space, medieval MM in transit.

Its a good move. The problem is the rear right hand corner of the shroud though. Trim or round off the corner and you'll be sweet.

I've been reading up in the USA forums, and at the end of the day, once the "excess" has been worn away, it'll stop rubbing!
Also going to source a replacement shroud and stick it in the garage "in case its needed later"...

"Excess worn Away" ?
It will bang into plastic and drive you nuts.
Also what will win metal v plastic??
-
how much do u have trim off?
-
Metal will win, and once the plastic has been worn away and there is nothing left for the timic to rub/hit it wont have anything to rub/hit.
I'm looking into to thermal tape to "pad" it out. Mind you, with a mount it shouldnt move around too much.

Bit hard to see but here are some old pics where you can see b4 and after. You can see some of the impact marks.
You seriously want to save $5-$10 and wear chunks away from your car? Sorry, I dont get it.
-
Now I understand! I thought people were talking about triming off the black plastic mounted to the underside of the bonnet! reall blonde moment!
What did you use to trim it?
Thanks, and sorry for being dumb!

glad we now understand each other. I was getting frustrated. Wanted to grab you by your head

Doesn't look like it would be hard to trim back that corner a bit with a grinder or something to prevent it from hitting the cowl?
-
I'm glad too. I was thinking you rude
Goes in tomorrow
