Thread: Gear stick FAIL

    Default Gear stick FAIL

    Car just broke down in the CBD.
    Came to stop at lights. Shift into 1st..fail. stick goes all loose and floppy.

    Anyone offer any explanations? waiting for tow truck not!

    maybe just popped a cable connector?

    Have a look under the bonnet

    I reckon that gear linkage (ball socket joint arrangement) might have popped off? See image below (just to the right of the 2XS plate)

    All good. Cops gave me a push to safer location. Popped hood and saw the ball socket popped off.

    So Andre u were spot on the money!!!!

    I was surprised it actually popped out.. i always had to use a little spanner with some force to pop it off.

    has anyone had this happen to them???

    @MPS2NV snapped a linkage on a cruise once lost 2/4/6 from memory

    Oh and on a side note, I have the JBR plate with the bolt upgrade.

    In my Pulsar SSS I had the arm bend and break on me. Apparently manufacturer fault, but out of warranty !!

    I have the JBR plate as well, what's this bolt upgrade?

    Its pretty much an extension mount/bolt.

    Most of us who bought it from MPSgarage during a special pricing got the new bolt after contacting them with proof of purchase. Was back in Mar 2010.

    oh yer , mine has that - still popped off :P
    it seems better to shift now with upgraded engine mounts though

    Phew !! Glad it was a simple fix. I would have freaked out ! At least if this happens to me now (hopefully not) I know where to look first.

    Well it popped off again today on southern cross drive during peak hr traffic !lucky I was able to coast through to a breakdown area!!!!!!

    So gay…might have to revert back to stock.

    I think theres a problem with the end link thingy coz its very easy to pop off by hand. In the past, had to use a little spanner to pry it off when I first got it.

    I have had the JBR SSP for over 2 and a half years, yet to pop off once.
