Thread: Before and After valve cleaning... 58k miles

  1. Default Before and After valve cleaning... 58k miles

    Pretty much sum's it up.

This is a must have service is your car has more than 30,000 miles on it. The gains in air flow effect MPG and power production a great deal. If you are not running a methanol system, you should get your valves cleaned.

This is done when you remove your intake manifold yeah? And then you clean via using the intake manifold inlets in the head yeah? (that's the hole we are looking through?)

Will EGR delete valve and Catch Cans reduce this?

Im doing this soon, have wire brush drill bits and meth so should scrub up good.
Yes egr and occ will definitely help. You're better off doing those first or it will just clog up again.
I had a quick look at mine when I did the egr delete and it looked disgraceful.

Again... everyone should get this done at 60k miles max.

This sounds expensive to do at a shop? How many hours for a trained mechanic to do this?
