why replace the whole top mount is only the bearing needs to be replaced?

just buy the bearing and replace it. any suspension places has them in hundreds of different sizes.

if they cannot supply it, buy it from mazda. cannot see them being more than $5 each.

    edit//
Might be a good time to upgrade to needle roller bearings, and do away with the bush style oem ones.

edit// oops i forgot the mazda 3 has the spring head and bearing all in one. $40 inc shipping on ebay.

Oh .. Have you got a link to this ? And are they for mps gen 1?
is it possible to do it at home or better get it done at a workshop?

search 'mazda 3 strut top bearing' on ebay.

you'll need spring compressor if doing it at home. to replace it will be the same process as fitting lowering springs to macpherson struts, but instead of replacing the springs, you are replacing the bearing.

    Bringing back an old thread.

As I'm moving from coil-overs back to springs/struts and don't have ANY of my OEM suspension, I'm in need of necessary bits to fit my Bilstein/King Spring combo.

Straight away advice I've received is:
    *front strut mounts
*new rear bump stops (Fat Cat's Fat Cat Motorsports - Bilstein products - Mazda 3 / Mazdaspeed 3)
*rear camber arms (already on order from Edge)

Anything else I need, advice on improvements while everything is off?

    Thanks in advance...

    Brad.

Might be best to start a new thread. I was sending you a PM yesterday then my computer hdd decided to die!

You also need rear shock mounts, front strut plate (which is separate to the mount which has the ball bearings) and front dust boots (not mandatory but will probably help prolong the seals). Its annoying bilstein dont include front dust boots ....grr. I'll send a PM when I get home with links to some parts etc
