    Default Let's talk clutches

So, how many kays are people getting out of the factory clutch?
If you have replaced it, which model and part number?
Why did you select the particular brand?

Got my first slip tonight so thought I should start the hunt.

Changed my stocker @ 100,000kms since It was slipping with the BT torque. Changed to the spec stage 3 plus and did the fidanza lightweight flywheel at the same time.

    Not a bad setup

Yes, feels like wheelspin without the wheels spinning.
You know it's time when you floor it in fourth or fifth and the revs spike but the car does not accelerate.
Mine did it tonight at a launch and into second so I'm beginning the hunt for information and pricing in anticipation of replacing in the next six months...

2005 MPS6 - 65,000km - mods as per signature. Original clutch. Love it.

People whinge about them being touchy or direct. I reckon its as close to perfect as you could have. It did get better after about 5,000km but was never a problem. Want a crap clutch? - drive a Holden.

I had a chat to some of the more experienced MSF members last night.

They seem quite keen on the ACT 6 puck clutch, however, it comes at a cost.

It is firm, and they seemed to mean that as quite firm.

It has chatter, being a puck type clutch instead of a plate.

However, it will take 500hp, and has been proven to take that pretty much whatever can be dished up from and MPS, for alot of time and use.

I still have the ACT clutch out of my black car sitting here. If mitch can spare a few mins one day measure it and see if it will fit up. If so i can either sell it or put it in mine
