Thread: Resonator Delete

    Hi All,

I want to get this done, Local exhaust shop charges $60. Just a little worried.

Is it possible or has anyone every got a CEL doing this little modification?
Do you think it will be hard to reverse if I ever want/need to?

    Any help appreciated.

No cel as its downstream of the o2 sensors. And yes it's reversible, as long as you ask for the resonator back after it gets taken out.
For me it's a low risk reversible mod that's cheap also

Awesome, so it wont affect any performance??
Like cause backpressure or something or is it simply just there to reduce noise?

I think I was the first Gen 2's to get it done and I've had no issues with CELs. Been close to a year now. Just go get it done!!!

The only thing it affects is the level of smile on your dial (it certainly increased my smile). As you said the resonator cancels out certain sound frequencies, therefore by removing the resonator you get all the glorious sounds that you would be missing out on. Noise increase is only slight,
I've had it done for 2 weeks and no issue.

I've also had a catted race pipe for 3+ months and no issues (the mid pipe / race pipe is upstream of the resonator)

I am getting this done by Troy (2xs). Taking 2nd cat and res out. He has put a magnaflow muffler on already.

Very exciting Jody. Are you happy with the sound? Happy to stick my camera to your backside...

I have been driving with a resonator delete and a 3 inch pipe installed from my 3 inch cpe dumpipe all the way to the mufflers for some time now and it has given me no issues. Its very loud on cold start but good whilst driving. I think it flows better and helps breathing up top.

Only have the manga flow so far and it is a deeper sound then before but quieter then the stock which is why we are doing the res and cat removals.

Troy is a bit tied up at present so am waiting patiently for it to happen.

Camera on my backside??? ( wish I could do emotes on my iPad lol)

I noticed the same thing Jody, i wouldnt say quieter but it is no louder than stock thats for sure. I noticed more of a growl (not a bark) really does go Grrrrr with mine lol .. Was also proven to give more power down low and up high on Tune Houses Dyno
Many want Power not many hold it long.........

Have you given it a good nudge since the install? My car is pretty tame at low to medium revs, but when the pedal is buried it barks like a MF.

I installed a new resonator when I did the new system, was worried about drone.

But neighbours are happy, they like the sound.

i just came back from having a magnaflow muffler and test pipe installed on my gen2, its a tad louder than stock and heaps deeper with a nice burble, i'm very happy with the sound, not sure if it's my bum dyno but it breaks traction when stomping on it in 2nd gear even in todays 30 deg heat, its only done that before on a shitty road surface.
