Default 2009 Opel Insignia OPC First Official Images And Details

When the Opel Isignia was revealed to the world, it was clear Opel had a winner on its hands.

Things only got better from there, with news that Opel’s high performance division, OPC or Opel Performance Centre, had begun working on a stove-hot version to take it to the competition.

Having seen a bag-full of spyshots showing the 2009 Opel Insignia OPC during testing, we can finally bring you official images and details on the hottest Insignia around.

To be sold as the Vauxhall Insignia VXR in the UK, the OPC offering comes packing over 240kW (325hp) thanks to a twin-turbo 2.8 litre V6 engine.

Better still, power is sent to all four 19-inch wheels via a traditional six-speed manual - that’s one to keep the old-schoolers happy.

Along with the 19s, 20-inch rims will also be available, while Opel’s new electronically-controlled limited slip differential (eLSD) does its best to maintain traction. The eLSD can transfer up to 40 percent of the torque to whichever rear wheel can make the most use of it.

Revised suspension will also assist in handling, while cross-drilled and ventilated rotors get worked over by Brembo calipers to bring the VXR to a halt.

Performance will be solid, with the 0-100km/h dispatched in a claimed 6.0 seconds flat. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h (155mph).

Interior revisions include Recaro front seats, a ‘grabbier’ gear knob, redesigned instrument cluster and a new three-spoke leather steering wheel.

A new front bumper with tough vertical intakes either side of the center air dam beefs up the front end, while the new rear bar includes two large chrome exhaust tips. A boot lid spoiler and new side skirts finish off the look quite nicely.

The Opel Insignia OPC is scheduled to go on sale in Europe later this year. We can only pray that Holden finds the heart (and the coin) to look after Aussie all-wheel-drive turbo fans and import the new Insignia. Mike’s already sworn he’ll relocate to the mountain if the mountain won’t come to him. TMR’s new Europe correspondent…?

And it looks kinda Holden epica-ish at the front, though the running gear sounds great would probably look better in black though!
    R36 - Just like an MPS6 except with a growly V6

I doubt it will...I think holden is ditching euro cars (Opel) for the local and cheap korean ones.

They wont bring it here...as with the Vectra...its eats into commodore sales.

The astra will be on the way out too im guessing....making clear for the new Holden Cruze to be released late this year/early 2010.

Its a nice car...and most opels are...we just dont get the good ones here.

I have owned a Vectra and Corsa/Barina...so I would buy this in a heartbeat.

That's if GM doesn't go down the tube first.
