Default Boost Controller Actuator. COBB or Grimspeed?

Ok so I broke this cheaply made plastic crap boost controller.

So my question is has anyone dealt with the Cobb 3port solenoid before. Ive been reading thru and people have been using the grimspeed. Suggestions before I buy? I need to order 1 this week as I have broke it a week ago. Thanks

Personally I would go with the Cobb.

I looks a bit more robust and from their own statement has the biggest ports in the solenoid they could find.

Personally Im a big fan of it, and will be getting one myself.

Ive noticed that both states that they bolt on the factory location which I would presume is on the top of the turbo ( on a M3 gen2 anyways). Can someone confirm that because i saw photos of people locating it elsewhere

There is a bracket for the BC, so yeah it should.

The shorter the hoses the better, you get better boost control that way.

Mounting them on the firewall is not wise though, as it makes a ticking noise that will echo in the cabin and drive you nuts lol.

I did the exact same thing while replacing my turbo. I just cut off the end on the plastic part left sticking out and pushed the hose directly onto that. works perfect

Hey Guys, at what point is an aftermarket unit useful/needed or whatever?

Reaching boost levels over 20psi, aftermarket units run 3 port mode so it picks up spikes quicker and reacts faster to keep boost in check.

Im running the Cobb on my MPS 6 with BNR Stage 3, no issues although dont mount to firewall loud and annoying will be moving it soon lol. Cant say if it is better or worse than Grimmspeed as never used it, i went with Cobb because of the name. Having said that havnt read anything bad about thr Grimmspeed.
