Thread: GEN II MPS 3 SHIFT FEEL vs RX-8 SHIFT FEEL

Default GEN II MPS 3 SHIFT FEEL vs RX-8 SHIFT FEEL

    Howdy,

Just wondering what others think about how the MPS3's box shifts in terms of feel in relation to the RX8.

I have an MPS3 and my mate has an RX8.

Don't need to compare the two - I know the strengths and weeknesses of both - but I just can't make my mind up on which has the better gearbox...

    Thoughts ?

haven't driven a rx8 before, but just got the car out for a spin and 1-2 gear on cold start is a PITA! tried 2-3 times b4 I can get it in gear.. (ssp installed)

Gen 2 shift feel is notchy as...
I've got the TWM Full Shifter Replacement, still notchy...
Hoping a heavier shift knob will help, but waiting on a deal.

I just sat in a CX5 base model, manual.
Shifter was smooth, different to the MPS.

having a short shifter generally will make the notchiness worse. you need to warm the gearbox oil up and/or get new oil

yea, I usually try not to shift too fast when car is still cold.. just incase I wack it in the wrong gear.

    OK.
    Interesting.

I think the shift feel in the bl mps 3 is nicer than the rx-8 with the rx-8 having the nicer shifter knob.

coming from 2007 rx8 to the 2010 bl, personal preference, the shift feels better on the rx8..
