The thing is they don't tune the cars when they add the mods just dyno it. I would say there would be some power gains if you added it and tuned it. I could be wrong tho

hmmm yer - although the results don't surprise me, they're still not the final word.

it's so subjective - some cars have restrictive stock intakes that benefit from a free flow setup, some are good from factory and can't be improved (eg. BMW's commonly drop power with aftermarket intakes). Some have MAF's that respond well to cooler air, some don't, some have ECU's that 'learn' over time, other's dont. placement is crucial. did they let the engine cool to the same temp after each run, or was it heat soaked after the first? so on and so forth....

For most people, a pod filter is a cheap mod that commonly gives the false impression that 'more noise must mean more power'. Couple that with some creative marketing from companies who want you to ditch your factory setup and BUY their aftermarket solution, and you've got a recipe for blind consumerism.

My ten cents is, if you like the sound of an aftermarket intake - do it. If you don't care for the added intake noise, or you'd prefer to keep it strictly legal, spend your money elsewhere. Keep the decision this simple and you won't lose sleep over it!

if you want to really educate yourself though, i've found the most informative articles on http://www.autospeed.com - he doesn't post a lot of content anymore but his old stuff is still gold and he approaches everything from a highly scientific angle, and very much a DIY/backyarder perspective.

Read these 5 articles. It's all you'll ever need to know, and you can shut down any fool at the next BBQ/watercooler/pub conversation wit yo' knowledge!

Performance or not, what can beat a high sound of a spooling turb on boost @ WOT? The sound alone is worth loosing abit of power, like who gives a shit . I like mighty car mods and all but this experiment does spark some discussion.

If they were measuring torque they would have noticed gains. Even comparing power curves would show an improvement in power delivery. I love MCM, but this is misleading
