    Default SURE Torq R6 RMM installed

    Well I finished doing this at midnight last night lol. Bolts on stock mount were almost too easy to get out so must of got fairly loose. I was always getting shift thump on spirited driving and was quite sick of it.
    Old mount out and sure in, very tight but snug fit in there, how it should be. Tightened to 75ft/lbs (sure recommend 65-85) with loctite red (this baby isnt coming out)
    Old mount looks in surprisingly good condition after 80000km, no cracks or anything, not sure if the holes are standard? Anyway, impressed!

    Impressions: no more shift thump, I can't feel any difference in vibes at idle or ac on its great. Power feels like it gets to the wheels just that little quicker. Shifting seems to 'slide' into gear more easily on hard driving.
    Time taken: 1 hour give or take a few minutes for jacking the car up
    Difficulty: ive never worked under a car other than oil changes and I found it very straight forward so 3/10 - hardest part was getting the bolts on the sure to line back up. I did support the engine but it was still a little tricky.

    After changing my stock out for the R6 I still get shift thump.. must be my gearbox mount or something

    Congrats for getting under there and giving it a go man!!
    Good to see you learned things from the experience. Also good to hear that the car goes better, this is coming up real soon on the list of next purchases

    ppham: Shift thump is when the car thumps when you shift
    (Rooted engine mount, the engine moves around and thumps on the worn out mounts)

    is nose diving a good description of shift thump?

    I only get shift thump on spirited driving, if i go wot from 1st-2nd on stock mount it would sound like a CLUNK on shift, now its pretty smooth when shifting to 2nd, dont get the CLUNK it just changes smooth and power picks straight back up.

    Might be your diff mounts are stuffed?

    The side engine mounts flog out too, I know mine are shagged

    I swear this car has so many f*ing mounts that need to be replaced, side motor, transmission, rear diff, front motor, rear motor..

    Usually after the rmm is gone it stresses out the others

    i have AWR solid side mounts and a CPE rear mount and i still get shift thump quite bad.

    thinking swapping the CPE out for a Sure and getting diff mounts done.

    any ideas?

    My Sure REM R6 is on the way cant wait to get under there and give it a go...........got quite a few new toys arriving soon.
    Ive been laying dormant for a while now.............& the bugs come back biting hard!!!

    I notice mine more so on down shift round 3 and 2 i find i have to hold the clutch just right upon releasing other wise i get a thump it's annoying i thought it was the factory clutch but upon reading im seeing this maybe the problem.
