    Default Tuning Solutions

Thought i would make a single thread for tuning solutions.

I'll break it into 3 sections, professional, "tune in a box" and piggback/interceptor.
Unless otherwise specified, all cars are supported.

(side vendors/sponsors have their relevant colours/get preference)

    Professional
This requires a professional workshop to tune your car on a dyno with software not commercially available to the average person, it replaces the ECU's maps on your car, and is custom made to your modifications.

    ECUTEK
Ecutek enhance ECU's Tuning Re-mapping reflashing enhanced performance

    Locations:
    NSW: Tunehouse, MRT Performance
    SA: S&J Automotive
    WA: RPW
    QLD: Mercury MotorSport

    EZY Flash Pro
    ChipTorque Performance - Home
as per following thread link CT suggests you go with the "Ezy Flash Pro"
Features: Boost limiter removal in 1st/2nd
    Supports:Gen 1 3MPS, 6MPS

    Locations:
    QLD: Chiptorque

    MazEdit

Features: Boost limiter removal in 1st/2nd
    Supports:Gen 1 3MPS, 6MPS

    Locations:
    Vic: HP-F

    Tune in a box

This provides you with a device to connect to your car's ODB2 port and load the tune yourself.

    Hypertech
Performance is our Passion - Hypertech
This is the more basic of the 2 tunes, each tune is differentiated by intake only, it was created with a stock intercooler and exhaust, so whilst these will not harm performance, the tune wont be able to take full advantage of them.
Features: Boost limiter removal in 1st/2nd, change idle rpm
The device is locked to the ECU of your car, to use it on a different car, you need to remove it from the original car.
    Supports: Gen 1&2 3MPS, 6MPS

    ozmps thread: http://www.ozmpsclub.com/forum/elect...abbed-one.html
    Purchase from: Advance Speed Shop

    VersaTuner
VersaTuner - An Innovative Tuning Solution
You need a tatrix cable to go with this software.
Versatuner has a library of tunes of choose from, these can take advantage of extra modifications such as exhaust and intercooler modifications.
It also has it's own software to allow you to create/edit your own tunes/maps.
    Allows for e-tuning.
Features: Boost limiter removal in 1st/2nd, remove "shift stutter" in 6MPS, Launch Control, Flat Foot Shift
Each software licence is "locked" to the that car's VIN/ECU
    Supports: Gen 1 3MPS, 6MPS (CX7 and gen 2 incoming)

    ozmps thread: http://www.ozmpsclub.com/forum/versa...-software.html
    Purchase from: VersaTune

    MazdaEdit
    epifanSoftware | mazdaEdit
    Requires a Tatrix Openport cable
    Supports: Gen 1 3MPS, 6MPS

    Purchase from: epifan

    Cobb Access Port
    AccessPORT
The Cobb Access Port is the most commonly used solution in the US, and it's now available in Australia.
It has a large number of "off the shelf" maps, and Access Tuner Race allows you to custom tune your own car.
    Allows for e-tuning.
Features: Boost limiter removal in 1st/2nd, remove "shift stutter" in 6MPS, Launch Control, Flat Foot Shift.
Each AP is "married" to the car's ECU, you can "unmarry" it and sell it when the time comes.
    Supports: Gen 1&2 3MPS, 6MPS

Purchase from: Edge, hpfp upgrade, Cobb, mpsgarage

    Interceptor/Piggyback

A piggyback ECU sits in between your ECU and the hardware it's controlling. They often alter the "load" (ie how much work your car is doing) your ECU is seeing, and thereby "trick" it into giving you higher ignition/air flow levels.

These can often store 2-3 "maps" on them, having a high and low boost setting, this can often be switched on-the-fly. Whilst the others require a re-flash to change settings.
A downside of them is that the data you log from your ECU's ODB2 port wont be a true reflection of what the car is actually doing. They are also unable to alter tables on the ECU, things such as knock sensitivity, idle speed, boost/ignition reduction for high boost temps to name a few.

    Haltech Interceptor
    http://www.haltech.com/index.php/dea...lers-australia
    Purchase from: ???

    Xede
    http://www.xede.com.au/
    Purchase from: ChipTorque

    CP-E Standback
This is no longer supported by CP-E, they now sell Cobb AccessPort's
    Purchase from: mpsgarage

Hi Sam - you can add MazdaEdit to the Tune in a Box/Tune yourself option. Not well known here but does have a following.

BTW, great idea for a post.

Just a heads up, we can e-tune your set up or if we get enough people together I can fly out and dyno tune everyone.

    E-tunes start at $199

Fly out and dyno tune would require a minimum of 20 cars and I have to see how much air fare and hotel is going to be before I give initial pricing. If I had to guess, it would be $450 to $650 per tune if I had to fly out. 20 cars would take 3 full days on the dyno.

    Thanks,

    John
