Thread: Respray front bumper and bonnet

  1. #1

Default Respray front bumper and bonnet

I bought my 2009 GenII 3MPS with 9,500kms on it back in 2010 and it had a few than desired stone chips on the bonnet and bumper

I never realised how bad it was until Dan paint corrected my car and removed all the so call imperfections to reveal the true paint. It looked like someone sprinkled icing sugar on my car

I am seriously considering investing having the bumper and bonnet resprayed and was wondering if any members had some advice, reputable places of business, or have had this done

    Thanks

Depends on your budget mate, but Mr Gloss over in Moorabbin have quite a good reputation. A couple of the MDs here at work have had their cars done there (2 x Porsche Cayenne Turbos, and a Range Rover)

They're fairly high-end though. Always have Ferraris and Lambos in there

Just be prepared for them to all come back

Stone chips happen, regular touch up or respray becomes part of the cost of ownership if you'd rather not have them.

    I know. Fact of life
It's fairly bad and it annoys the crap out of me

Maybe look at front bumper protectors? Kiti has them on her car and it looks crap but the bumper and bonnet are in great shape still

I've managed to purchase a car bra for those long trips or drive days

Will give it some protection I guess

Clear film stone chip protection after you get the Respray.

3M Ventureshield. Thats what i got on mine. $795 for front bumper and front of bonnet including scoop. Hardly noticable. Thinking of taking my car back to them though as they trapped some grit under some sections.

I have investigated this product and there is no way this stuff will work on the amount of stone chips I have

They have looked at my car and told me the the bonnet would probably pass, but the icing sugar affect would still be there, the bottom of my bumper would need to be resprayed

Yep, Ventureshield is probably the best I've seen at this sort of job. Have a chat to mmmmps (Bruce) and find out where he got his done
