Default Soon to be MPS owner.

    Hi guys,

I've just taken the plunge and traded my '07 VW Golf GTI for a brand spankers '11 Mazda 3 MPS.

Its the facelift model, though apart from merging the base and luxury spec into one model, I'm struggling to tell what else the facelift is?

Anyway, take delivery Friday, can't wait.

Look forward to learning lots about it, already doing quite a bit of re-search on tunes etc.

Hey welcome ! And congrats on the car !

They've removed the electric seats as far as I am aware on the '11 model.

More importantly..what colour did you get ?

    Welcome,

    Congulations on the new car.

There is not a lot differences in the facelift, there are some colour changes on the inside and you lose the electic seat save functions, that is about it. also white is now available.

What colour did you go for?

    The car's Black.

The driver's seat does power-adjust... not having the memory is a shame though!

Oh the mod bug bit well and truly before this... the GTI has a Superchips 'Bluefin' Stage 1 tune, Bilstein B8 shocks, Eibach Pro-Kit springs (15mm drop). Still looks like the other 500,000,000 GTI's around town (and that's the idea ).

From the reading I'm doing, it seems remaps for the Gen2 are a bit more complicated than the plug into OBDII port and press some buttons job I did on the Golf.

Also couldn't find anything by Bilstein for the Gen2, all the stuff they make is for Gen1 only (unless I'm just stupid and they use the same hardware?).

    The re-search continues...

for a basic flash, there is the hypertech
we're hoping that the cobb access port will be up and running in near future, that will have "Off The Shelf" maps where you pick one closest to your mods and flash it
there is bilsteins for the gen 2, might have to order from the states... know one gen 2 member getting them, will point him here next time i see him

Ok, picked the car up today (they called me a day early).... wow!

What an engine, it is absolutely unbelievable! It makes the flashed GTI seem slow...

    And... wow that engine!

Its great to be in a manual again too... after the DSG VW.

Combination of price, power, features and the 3 year unlimited warranty was definitley a clencher (I'm doing ~1000km/week so normal warranties go fast).

Always liked them, I test drove an old BK? MPS with a mate who was looking at buying one and was impressed, so here we are.
